Every industry has its peak period! We all heard of the IT Boom, The Real Estate Boom and now it’s time for Retail & Hospitality sectors! I need not boast too much about it since everyone heard about the Big Fat Budget that has been set aside to make things real. If you haven’t I would like to have a dig at some facts here.
Let me start with the ‘Big Fish’,the mighty ‘W’: Wal-Mart will be setting malls in India in association with Sunil Mittal’s Bharti Group. Other international big players like Carrefour, Tesco and Auchan have also shown interest in this industry. Indian retail industry is expected to grow at a compounded growth rate of 11% and will be a $450 billion industry by 2010. DLF will be spending Rs. 1600 crore on developing malls over the next four years.
Reliance Retail is planning to splurge Rs 2500 crore for opening different formats and the Kishore Biyani-owned Future Group, India’s largest retailer group, will be investing Rs 3600 crore in 100 stores in 30 cities, increasing its retail space from 3.5 million square feet to 30 million sq feet by 2010. Future Group also plans to have 100 Big Bazaars up and running even before Wal-mart arrives in India. Nice welcome that will be for the American giant
Now all those money, ever thought about the potential of this sector ?In a sharp contrast to the retail sector in developed economies, retailing in India – though large in terms of size – is highly fragmented and unorganized. With close to 12 million retail outlets the country has one of the highest retail densities worldwide. For this very reason the potential is too huge.
And how this happened all of a sudden would be the next question that might pop up in our mind! Well Indian middle class now is too ‘demanding’-That’s where it all happened. We all wish to have more choices, best quality and importantly more than just ‘buying’, we want the shopping experience to be entertaining!
Given the size and the purchasing power of the Indian consumer, the road ahead can only get smoother and it is only a matter of time before the domestic retail industry is on par with its western counterparts.
Recession or steep market conditions the Retail & Hospitality sectors by far deals with the basic necessities and hence seldom get affected by such factors. But anyway the good news is that: “Picture abi shuru hi ho raha hai” or simply its all just beginning !

Now,I simply love #coffee and I also love to hangout with friends as much as I love to find new places & hot spots in the city. And all my likes just got promoted to find out this awesome place at convent junction,The Coffee Cube.
Now I really am out of words on where to start since this is like the first time I am finding a place with everything so balanced and nearly perfect. OK !,lets talk about what they serve first. The Menu seems to be having everything, that very fresh & new feel which makes us drool with confusion in where to begin.Smoothies,cocktails,deserts,…. there were too much a option for me to remember. And these things taste as good as it looks, trust me on that.
Now the ambiance, one word..”WOW !”.I must say, their expertise as interior people does comes in handy really here. The place is beautifully done be that the wallpapers, couches be even the window shields. LCD monitors with Xbox adds makes it more live and now they even have Live music 4 days a week if I am not mistaken. All in all, like I said you wouldn’t find a place made so beautiful nearly to perfection in the city.
I would rate 8/10 for making me feel on cloud9 and I am sure you would Love it too…

Bangalore is one of those places where you could find yourself either at the brim of nowhere or then at the edge of your greatest success ! But all that depends on the way you look at it !
For me,it’s really special to be back here after more than a year, this is the place which shaped a very important thing in my Life. This is where @smiley_card was born ! This is where the #entrepreneur in me took shape. I remember making documents, logo, naming and almost everything of what @smiley_card sitting at a @CafeCoffeeDay here. Now I am back to the same place to expand the portfolio of Smiley ! The city is very fast paced & you can find people who are very much busy to get a breath in this fast pace. For a moment I felt totally lost & an outcast to be here, but then the learning process is fun.
Have been visiting lot of places here,I am so tempted to have “The” Life here. But each day here’s been a delightful and learning experience for me.Having seen the beautiful city & pretty much lost in its traffic gives you enough time to think about yourself. You probably equate yourself to the rest of world, cos that is quite the benchmark set here.
Having said all that, the fast paced Life here just made me think larger than Life about every single aspect of the person in me,of the brand in me,of the entrepreneur in me ! For a city which is has changed all benchmarks of innovation in all possible areas, getting my work done with @smiley_card is not a easy game. Having said that,I am still trying to figure out that missing link ! I am sure given some time I should be able to crack the funda of having things on the move !
The city always been the shopping hub,and to what I see it is going to be that way forever. The strategy adopted by all major brands here mostly custom made for the people here, the customers here seem to be too demanding & get appealed only by innovative stuff ! The normal funda is so out of date here & been talking to a lot of clients here,I just got a feeling that even I need to change my approach.
Anyway each day is been quite an experience & the city with all its pace n glitz is the place you need to be if you are looking for a fast forward button to your Life.
Once you here, you will earn to enjoy the feeling of getting tied up to thinking ahead.
