As I look back,2009 wasn’t all that a great year for certain reasons but it was simply a Life Altering year for a lot more reasons. “Pappu Pass Ho Gaya” would be the first thing that I would say when it comes to my academic stats, finally with lot of pain and grief I am now a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering(That’s what my certificate which is yet to come is supposed to say).So the year 2009 has made me a ‘Bachelor’(I am, yes I am…lol) who is yet to ‘Master’ his world.

As I look back, the first thing that comes to my mind is the New Year celebrations 2009;I celebrating thebeginning of yet another year and of course “My Birthday”(Yup,lucky brat I am…???) with my partners in crime, all of them in fact. Our celebrations started at Ramada & Loungevity on December 31’st and went on four days which was Archana’s Birthday too(Yes, she’s a Capricorn too) and how can I forget the days ahead, cos technically we all were broke badly after that LOL.(so technically we were the first to be hit by Recession ..LOL). And a lot has changed since then, a lot ….
Yes Indiavision had already loosen its grips making me and Asif technically ‘Jobless’(We were program producers cum VJ there ya see). So unlike all other men who would probably look for another job, we were quite geniuses-We did nothing. Asif had decided his destiny, he was just waiting for the path to show up and yes the year 2009 did show him one and now he has taken the first step towards his destiny.
And the movie “Ritu” just gave him enough push for everyone to see the “Actor” in him or in his own words to see the “Kutty Tiger” in him(means small Tiger….Really ! he is …LOL).The picture put up was taken when we went wish Asif “All the success” as he was leaving for the shoot of ‘Ritu’.
Archana was already expecting a call for the movie, “Patanathil Bootham” which she apparently did not take up and she was the Chairperson of our club-“the Jobless club”(LOL..i just made up that now). But then her Life too took a U-turn when Lal Sir, asked her to play Kunjumallu of Neelathamara. So there goes our chairperson (LOL).

I am going to miss them for certain but I am very happy that they have been bestowed with what they deserve. As for me, my transition from Program Producer of Yes Indiavision to Director (Operations) of my own startup firm took its course of time and my journey so far been Fun & troublesome.
As I look back,2009 has placed a whole new world has been placed in my front and told me ‘Beta ! Yeh hai Duniya !’ and I ask back ‘Yeh Beta Kaun Hai’(Ah ! OK …..Bad joke, I always try you see).a lot has changed around Shruti(@shrutikutu) has now migrated to Trivandrum, Jyoti now in UK,Anup now thinking of quitting smoking & Alcohol(I forgot the last time he took this decision..LOL),Shweta now doing her final Semester, Ajeesh still not got laid in UK(someone find him a Chic .Please!),Rakesh(stuck somewhere),Mathew at Mumbai,Anitha decided to reduce her weight by 4 Kgs(I bet she still would be like a 100 Kgs..LOL) recession, Re.1 for Twitter SMS’s in Airtel(LOL..Now that was a good one ).Something’s still unchanged though Sithara(@SitharaP),Abilash(@abbbii ),Sunil; Happy everyone still here for me ! Thanks Guys!
As I look back,I learned that Life ahead is more back…….

My work involves meeting a lot of people and sharing my concept of how hospitality and retail business is evolving itself as we move forward. I have a very steadily rising client list and that means a lot of stories to share;good and bad.I would like to just share experiences about one my best client relationship i share, the team at Gokulam Park Inn,kaloor.
Being a Sarovar Portico has its tag may be,but what i truly adore is how the staff, each on of them has
understood the word meaning of Hospitality to its very core. From the GM to staff at the lowest level the way they treat you is really something we don’t find everywhere.Noe you might be thinking that all-star rated hotels have good guest relationships.yes,i agree but then being in hospitality business is not just about how you treat your guest alone, its more than that. Very a less people understand that;its like what our great Mahatma Gandhi had quoted that the real character of a person can be judged only by the way they behave to their subordinates or people below them in terms of class. Now i am not sure if that’s the exact quote but then we are all humans and we all value respect from people wherever we go.
May be you’re the guest, may be you are not,may be you came to do business, may be you came for an inquiry at the end of the day, hospitality is a business where you are supposed to treat everyone equals. From my very experience i have seen how people treat when it comes to a stand where we are not their guest. And believe me i have seen the worst scenarios too.
The bottom line is,in real terms Gokulam Park Inn and its team truly stands apart when it comes to beingcordial, professional in all regards. In my experience so far with lot of hospitality clients i have i would rate this as the best so far ! A big Kudos to the GM & the entire team !And of course Sarovar hotels & resorts.

Archana Kavi sure knows to cast spell on audience with her eyes and that innocent smile but her ticket to Neelathamara as kunjumallu also had one very important factor, that was the strong resemblance to Ambika, the kunjumallu of the first Neelathamara.
Ah,she’s always been God’s favorite throughout her Life. But then its truly an amazing aspect of how “Timing” is important in everyone’s Life. Archana never aspired to be an actress, she wanted to be a journalist like her father @Josekavi. She was a VJ for more than a year in a
channel which never made much of a mark, she did a couple of Ad’s but the call from Lal sir came after her album with Asif Ali got out. She was supposed to debut in a small role for another mallu movie. I still remember the first time she went for auditions, Lal sir’s daughters called her “Achu” just when she got in.(they used to watch Bloody Love-where Archana portrays herself as a Love Guru). So it’s all about “Timing” & God’s blessings i think. But then for her i would say its well deserved. She’s like the heavy lifting champion of talent with the right mix of confidence & will.
And she’s still the same female who loves to cook to have junk food.Though now she’s busy shooting for her next movie “Mummy n Me” at cutticanam, she can’t resist talking to her fans. She had somehow found a computer between the shoot and this was her tweet :
@archanakavi: sorry 4 not being in touch… take care coz i care… love!
Lets wish her all the best for her future and her Birthday is nearing too.(Hope to wish her,is @josekavi back from north pole ?? lol )God Bless !

Every Brands find their way to get placed in the minds of their customers(by hook or crook they day…).At the end of the day reaching out to a mammoth like numbers(in terms of millions that is) is never easy. These are people with unique & different views and thoughts. So how do you connect to them ? Its been Simple ! (Till now) Like say, have a brand ambassador or create a product that creates a new space by itself that customer finds it as a necessity and not as a product(that was the case for Apple Ipod’s).But now, things are not that simple, customers demand more, they are pro-active and they don;t fall for your gimmicks of portraying your product as a messiah or some.
But there is also a another way which is indeed very powerful that you can connect your brand to millions of your customers. And that my matey’s is the way of “Goodness”.Sounds strange ? People out there like to talk about an act of kindness or how you stood out to promote Green.
Yes,I am talking about the “Human” touch campaigns:1)Go Green(save the Earth) 2)Charity(any act of kindness).
Now rather than me going on and on about how these two new marketing gimmicks have been effective can be measured from the fact how Giant Corporate’s have been promoting in such lines.

In India Bharti Airtel has almost bought the “Marathon” as their campaign property and have received very good responses so far. The image of “Go Green” and promoting awareness among people in similar lines have been working well among customers in creating a special kind of affection towards brand. You must have all seen campaigns that says 10% if the bill will be going as for donations and blah blah…Infact these days Archies cards and expressions have been selling their paper cards like that otherwise i rarely find anyone actually buy paper cards.
Now just see how people seem to commercialize the whole act of “Charity” or being Kind. But its in fact good news for NGO’s and other organisations,we all have seen the logo of CRY associated with famous brands.
For sometime,I used to think are these brands in a kind of race.I meant seeing the campaign mode, say for instance the campaigns that Idea Cellular came with were also very interesting and did place Idea Cellular in the minds of customers as a socially responsible brands, for some reasons such associations can sometimes sell your product.
The point is that Being a responsible brand itself creates enough impact among customers for them to use your products and this fact is being utilized well enough but trust me more are still to come…
This is the continuation of the Brand Avatar Series:
Brand Avatar:Part 1,3-D view on changing brand realms
Brand Avatar:Part 2,Tigerwoods,Tendulakar,Angelina..next what ?
