10 Innovative Start-ups from Kerala

These are only my personal views & in no way can be considered to be a standard or judgemental call on anyone.

I have had goose bumps watching social network, the part where Zuckerberg takes out his card that says “I am the CEO , Bitch !”. Making money out of doing what you love to do is the primary motive behind every entrepreneur but the real picture is all about hardcore madness & trust in your “idea”. Luckily , I have come across a lot of such awesome ideas which have inspired me & also inspired many ‘a’ like me and that’s why I thought to write about them.
1.Artin Dynamics
Innovation: First Artificial intelligence based start-up from Kerala or even India
Type : Product / R&D
Now, you don’t get to hear about R&D or artificial intelligence a lot and that itself makes these guys stand out from the crowd. They have been given grand’s twice by TBIC for R&D, won hell lot of awards globally and recognized by International community. Ask me what they are doing ? ,well i just know some basic outline. But then team Artin is the most jovial team I have come across and I’m sue anyone who met these guys would agree.
Their latest product Spara looks quite promising and has some very relevant role in power consumption patterns of industries. The team is headed by Nelvin Joseph(@callemeninja),CEO who is a sure surprise to everyone who have met him.Now,let’snot spoil the surprise in case you have not met him, ya ?

2.Innoz Technologies
Innovation: Mobile search engine
Type: product
Probably the youngest entrepreneur I have ever met, the CEO Deepak Ravindran and friends started Innoz in their college days and then, there’s been no looking back for them. I believe they are celebrating their Third Anniversary about these days, so special congrats to the team ! They have themselves deeply rooted into the fast growing mobile arena. Their mobile search app has already been used by Airtel and has also won them many a awards Nationally & Globally .
Now, these guys are seriously persistent at what they are doing and that quality has given them many feats in this short span of time.

3.Dexetra
Innovation: Mobile app that’s based on Intelligence gathering

Now I am sure the app “Friday” which these guys have developed is a sure bet to become something bigger ahead.a team with the right mix of enthu,the CEO Founder Narayan Babu and team sure know to strike the right chord be that in whatever streams they are into. Dexetra is working on a whole lot of interesting things and probably that’s one reason they even got invites to the tech crunch event in the U.S.

4.MindHelix
Innovation : Mobile apps that can make a Bang
Now these guys Bang specialists, be that the launch of their “Tuk-Tuk” meter – an app that checks fares of autorickshawas using GPS or “Sentinel” the app that’s made for women security they sure know how to make the right voices. A young bunch of youngsters who weaved their dream company while at college, these engineers did get a lot of balls moving from there.
Christin George,the CEO of the company is vivid wanderer and explorer himself and is quite on a lookout for anything & everything innovative.
5.Snacos
Innovation : Thinking beyond potato chips as a snack
It’s relatively a new player in the market but Snacos is sure bet ahead. The peanut based snack has a lot riding on it,in day’s ahead.Although the product is not officially launched I came across this, couple of months back. What took me was to see the packaging of the snack that stood out from the crowd.
Run by a very passionate yet subtle gentlemen, Mr.Arun farmfest, the parent company has a lot of plans ahead of its launch.

6.Readers Web
Innovation: Home Delivery of any books you want to read

The guy who started it Casey Nester Fernandez, is an ardent bookworm or probably a book lover that he decided to quit his nice well paid job to start Readers Web. The idea is quite simple ,all you need to do is take a one time membership & dial upto 2 books to your home. No late submission fee or any hassles. Happy news for book lovers !

7.Metro Geometry
Innovation: a blog network spread over different cities & campuses

Now this is one big dream,to have a network of blogs across different cities & college campuses & bring it to one platform. the effort by Kenney Jacob and team who’s been working hard to get things right for many a years is commendable. From Mumbai to Kochi…metro has almost all cities covered under one umbrella !

Innovation: one of its kind platform for education

I have always had a special respect for ideas in education segment and Rajeevnath viswanathan from Trivandrum has just struck that right chord which is a sure bet in days to come. The software he created for schools is an innovation that can change a lot of thing in coming days in education sector.

9.Csharks

 

 

Innovation: Gaming company with a difference

Eldhose Mathew, the founder looks so subtle even while he receives the  Star Entrepreneur Award at Indira International Innovation Summit, Pune for Csharks but that’s him and his team. They have cracked the code quite a few times and the company is a promising brand to lookout for.

10.Logobake

Innovation: a company dedicated to create Logos

When I met Hiran Venugopal and he shared the idea about logo bake I really could not digest much. But he alone have so far gone thee logos jut for me and then i understood that this guy can do some really awesome & vivid logos to an extent that he would even setup a dedicated one stop point just for logos.

@Kochi:The online newsmakers of Kochi

The Newsmakers09 of the Kochi Blogosphere are the ones who deliver the news to us.a big cheers to the team behind them.

Before reading on I really need to remind that these are simply my personal views on and does not in any regard can be considered as a scale of reach or popularity of these websites.

Cochin Square

The domain is the oldest amongst these,to be exact 2 years, 3 months, 7 days as of now.And being the oldest and the first one in the space has its benefits.The site is maintained by the experts in the business,so i needn’t speak much about the website’s efficiency in terms of design or other statistics.

From a laymen view,the site is simple and elegant and has information for the average cochilite to the above average guys.In terms of information it accumulates,all credit to the authors who contribute(i myself used to contribute before i started my blog) the website is a vast resource of everything and anything you need to know about Kochi.

As to a critic view,all i see is the lack of aggression in terms of offline marketing of the site but all that ain’t a factor of how popular the site is as you can see in its figures.

To round-up Cochin square is  totally 100% professional in its attitude of bringing out the best of Kochi.Kudos to the team and my personal wishes to @TheAnand,the chief author and wishing the team a wonderful year ahead.

Kochi Vibes

When a bunch of people who loves their city more than their own mom met together,Kochi Vibe was born. That’s the version as i can remember from its “about” page.The domain is very new,to be exact 8 months, 28 days as of now and very fresh in its approach.

From a commoners point of view the site is uber cool in its approach!The initial focus with content was mostly towards the events that were happening in the city and gradually they’re shifting to everyday living & Lifestyle.The growth of Vibe was simply attributed to a simply philosophy,”Giv-em-what-they-want”.Vibe has a page-3 kind of attributes in its content and presentation which gives it a fresh feel,something that was missing ! They just filled the gap and that’s their story of success.

From a critic view,I adore their aggression for growth and their marketing strategies but what it lacks is a mature approach.

To round-up Vibe gave Cochilites the  ”Page-3″ feeling or say the “Happening” feel which is quite fresh and as i said uber-cool.Wishing the team a wonderful year ahead.

Kochi Gallan

Now,the name “Gallan” in itself has a unique feel which is their first and most important asset.”Gallan” in itself has a small story,an inspiring one of how a bunch of students wanted to use their skills to do something of their own .The domain is pretty old,6 months, 19 days to be exact but they only launched their version 1.0 couple of months back and seems they will be launching version 2.0 in two days from now.

From a commoners view,the site looks & feel cool.

From a critics point of view the site in its current format is underdog in the category,and lets hope that will change with their upgrade.And of course the marketing strategies seems to be a little directionless as of now and we really need to change the current use of language.

To summarize we’re looking forward to Gallan2.0 to be more exciting and classy. Have a great year ahead folks !

Voice of Kochi

The domain is technically old(1 year, 1 month, 29 days as of now) but I have only known about the site a couple of months back.But they haven’t really strike the right chords in terms of marketing or promotion.

As for anyone who visits the site,in terms on content & approach it’s simply just another website.

From a critics point of view,the site lacks perfection in design & presentation.No signs of long-term thinking or in another words a logo or any illustration that possibly could be assumed as the theme.i did not even find a contact page or a twitter account for the website which i like to believe that i missed it out.

The bottom line we would all like to some action this year and wishing that the team comes around with the best next year.

In Cochin

Now this is quite a simple blog about that gives you updates as when it is,simple n elegant like the chef guy who runs the show @binnyva.The domain quite new (6 months, 26 days) and it simply symbolizes that the guy we ‘re talking about is quite happy with his city.

What i love about this site is that its simply so down to earth in its presentation.

As a critic,there is very less marketing stats put to work here though i adore the simplicity.

Wishing a  Blogfull 2010 ! LOL !

Gallan Story:I am now at Kochigallan too

Now this is a very small story about how I became a Gallan !

When I was given the honor to write in Kochi Gallan,it was a mixed state of reaction i had within. I used to contribute for Cochin Square before i started my personal blog site. Now that I was concentrating on it,i was pretty confused.Along with all this I had to also maintain blog sites of Smiley & Archana Kavi,so the confusion was what would i write.

Well these had been running in my mind and I finally found an answer to it today as I was on my ride on way back home.The traffic was unusually scary today and it was also a Tuesday,which only makes it more bad. Anyway as i was traversing through South over bridge I saw some strange movements going on. Finally the police started using the Traffic system installed which had people in debacle over curiosity. i don’t know if it was actually the first time they used it but my guess about the system was true.So it happened then to me “Wow ! i just got my first story to be a Gallan” and i just finished writing it. And yes i am officially a Gallan ! LOL !
